PHILADELPHIA PREMIERE
Drawing comparisons to Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning hit Get Out, THE COUSIN is an edge-of-your-seat genre-bender that examines the innate prejudices that exist within Israel today. Writer/director/star Tzahi Grad plays a liberal-leaning Israeli actor who hires Fahed (Ala Dakka), a well-intentioned Palestinian handyman, to work on his crumbling studio apartment. When a neighborhood teen reports to be the victim of a sexual assault, the day-to-day lives of Israeli locals is upended. Fahed was seen speaking to the girl earlier that morning and Grad wants to believe in Fahed’s innocence. However, the dubiousness of friends, family, and neighbors begins to wear the Israeli actor down, exposing his own dormant, xenophobic attitudes over his best intentions. This one is guaranteed to leave audiences talking!
